The museum is located in a typical 18th century craftsman house. A large manchimney is in the middle of the building and on both sides the living rooms are located. Typical 18th–19th century residential house interiors can be seen. In addition temporary topical exhibitions are held at the museum.
The house has belonged to various craftsmen for almost 200 years. It has been inhabited by the families of a saddler and a tanner (I half of the 19th century) and the family of a coach maker (II half of the 19th century). During 1877–1975 it belonged to confectioner Adolf Sidron and his descendants.
