The building complex of the museum, dating back to the 14th-15th century, is made up of the former prison building and the house of the prison warden. Medieval looks have preserved in cylinder vaults, mantel chimney and girder ceilings. Fettering bonds have preserved in the basement.
The museum keeps articles related to the history of Estonian photography from the earliest days up to present times; the visitors can admire a superb collection of photo cameras. Photographic exhibitions are held in the photo-cellar “Lee” in the same building.
