Since 1993 the museum has been housed in a tsarist-time border guard cordon building and it introduces the history of the legendary village of captains. The exhibits come from all spheres related to the sea – navigation, fishing, smuggling, border guarding, as well as the sea as part of nature and an object of photography and fine arts. For children the museum organizes museum days on two topics: the village of captains and the Viking era. Village conferences, the Sea Day, the international Viking camp, concerts and exhibitions take place. People can celebrate their anniversaries here. The Käsmu Museum is a private museum, which is based on Aarne Vaik’s collections.
